New products are a combination of a little bit science and a little bit art and there should be experienced people developing them. Formulators who combine these abilities early in their careers are rare. The skills are developed over time and with experience.
We develop products within the following general guidelines or philosophy:
- Good taste. This is the primary determinant of of new product success. In large
corporations, it is often overlooked in the flurry of other considerations. We
concentrate most of our energy on this aspect of product development because
without this, products will surely fail.
- Ease of use. Products must be consumer friendly..packages must store easily, open
easily, have easy handling instructions, fool-proof directions and storage requirements.
- Patentability. If possible, patenting a product can provide a competitive edge.
- Exclusivity. Most of our products will include a secret component that protects the product from easy duplication.
- Consumer Acceptance. High test scores are essential. We encourage as much real life consumer testing as the budget can accommodate.
- Cost effective formulation. Ingredients you currently inventory are usually used and margins are a primary concern during product or menu development
- Reliable processing. We don’t present prototypes with a garnish on the top unless we’ve worked out how this can be done in your manufacturing environment. Capital investment is kept at a minimum.
- Excellent packaging. We work with packaging professionals to bring you good looking packages with high impact and maximum product protection. A review of all new packaging options for products is always presented.
- Shelf life. Often overlooked, time must be built in to every product development schedule for appropriate shelf life testing to assure product success.
